Brad Cook is a Professor of Classics at the University of Mississippi, College of Liberal Arts. He teaches ancient Greek, Latin, and courses on Greek culture and history, including "Macedon and the Fourth Century in Greek History" and "Slavery in Ancient Greece and Rome."
- Education: Ph.D., M.A., B.A. in Classics/Greek from the University of Washington; studied at the American School of Classical Studies, Athens.
His research focuses on ancient Greek and Roman history, classical rhetoric, and the reception of figures like Demosthenes, Cicero, Philip II, and Alexander the Great in medieval and Renaissance scholarship. He examines how ancient sources are preserved, interpreted, and transformed over time.
Recent publications include analyses of Macedonian alliances, Byzantine redactions of the Alexander Romance, and Athenian political rhetoric. His co-authored work on political accountability in Athens was published in History of Political Thought. He received the Rhetorica Prize (2012) for his article on rhetorical framing in the Rhetorica journal.
Brad Cook has taught at multiple institutions, including San Diego State University, Ohio Wesleyan University, Tulane University, and Loyola University, before joining the University of Mississippi in 2011. His work bridges classical studies with interdisciplinary approaches to political theory and cultural transmission.
