Branden Kosch is an Affiliate Assistant Professor of Classics at the University of Dallas since 2017. He holds a PhD in Classical Languages and Literatures from the University of Chicago (2017), an MA from the same institution (2013), and a BA in Latin and Greek from Oberlin College (2010). His research focuses on Greek and Latin syntax, Athenian paideia, hermeneutics, and the poetic tradition, with a particular interest in Greek oratory. He teaches courses such as First-Year Latin, Advanced Grammar & Composition, and seminars on Demosthenes and Roman historians like Tacitus and Livy. His published work includes a co-authored review in the Bryn Mawr Classical Review (2010).

Research Interests: Kosch’s work bridges linguistic analysis and historical context, emphasizing the role of syntax in classical texts. His exploration of paideia in Classical Athens examines education’s societal impact, while his studies in hermeneutics address interpretive frameworks for ancient literature. He has also contributed to discussions on the poetic tradition’s evolution and the rhetorical techniques in Demosthenes’ speeches.
Teaching: He frequently offers courses on Latin language progression, Roman historiography, and advanced classical composition. Recent offerings include Roman Letters: Cicero, Pliny and Demosthenes as special topics.
