Yunis earned his PhD from Harvard University. His current projects include editing papyrus fragments of Demosthenes' On the Crown and co-editing the Cambridge History of Rhetoric. He holds editorial roles at Rhetorica and Polis: The Journal for Ancient Greek and Roman Political Thought, and chairs the American School of Classical Studies in Athens.
His research spans classical texts' political relevance, including studies on Plato's Phaedrus, Aristotle's Rhetoric, and Demosthenes' speeches. Recent work emphasizes political normativity in Aristotle and Athenian speech aesthetics. His publications blend textual analysis with historical contextualization, advancing understanding of Greco-Roman intellectual traditions.
Yunis has received major fellowships from the NEH, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and Center for Hellenic Studies, alongside grants from the Mellon and Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundations.
