Boyoung Jeong

Boyoung Jeong is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology’s Armour College of Engineering. Her expertise spans geoenvironmental and biogeotechnical engineering, focusing on flow in porous media, bio-mediated geotechnics, and bio-geo materials. She holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology (2022), an M.S. and B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Seoul National University (2014, 2012).

Research Interests: Her work addresses microbial influences on geotechnical systems, geomaterials characterization, and sustainable engineering solutions. Key areas include microbially induced calcite precipitation, motile bacterial effects in porous media, and biofilm-mediated material repair. These studies aim to enhance environmental sustainability and infrastructure resilience.
