Bonnie Wilson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Saint Louis University, within the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and undergraduate degrees in Music and Business Administration from Saint Louis University. Her research focuses on Public Choice, International Economics, and Growth & Development Economics, with notable contributions to understanding the role of interest groups in shaping economic policies and outcomes.
Dr. Wilson teaches courses such as Principles of Economics and Public Choice. She is actively involved in professional organizations, including serving on the Executive Committee of the Public Choice Society and as Editor of Jesuit Higher Education: A Journal. Her honors include the 2020 Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding Teacher Award and the 2017 Mary A. Bruemmer Award from Saint Louis University’s Student Government Association.
Her research spans topics like regulatory policy, economic freedom, and the impact of interest groups on democracy and growth. She has co-authored influential papers on inflation targeting, fractionalization, and the dynamics of university governance. Additionally, she advocates for academic independence, leading efforts to address donor influence at Saint Louis University.
