Dr. Boh Young Lee is a Professor of Early Childhood Education at the School of Education, Western Illinois University (WIU), within the College of Education & Human Services. Her research focuses on curriculum development, assessment strategies, diversity in education, and early language/literacy development. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate students in early childhood programs and has received grants to support early childhood educators in earning degrees and credentials.

Her research interests emphasize technology integration in early childhood classrooms, heritage language maintenance, and culturally responsive pedagogy. Recent work analyzes trends in technology/media use in early childhood education and explores strategies for fostering literacy and peer collaboration in toddler classrooms. She has contributed to statewide initiatives on curriculum design and professional development.
Dr. Lee’s publications span topics such as digital tool integration, cultural identity formation among immigrant families, and early literacy assessment. Her grants have supported workforce development in early childhood education, while her teaching spans pre-service and in-service teacher training. She collaborates with the Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood Education and participates in taskforces addressing curriculum and professional development needs.
