Dr. Björn Serke is a faculty member at the University of Bielefeld, affiliated with the Faculty of Education and the AG 3 - School Theory with a Focus on Primary and Special Schools. He serves as a Teacher for special tasks and is actively involved in the OPSE BiWi program, where he supervises lecturers and coordinates practical studies. He is also affiliated with the Center for Childhood and Youth Research (ZKJF) and BiSEd, contributing to educational research and teacher development.
His research focuses on inclusive education, particularly the learning and living situations of students with and without risk factors, poverty in inclusive schools, inclusive didactics, and multi-professional cooperation. His doctoral work on school well-being of students with special educational needs earned him two major awards, highlighting his contributions to the field.
Dr. Serke has held visiting professorships at the University of Vienna and Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, demonstrating national and international recognition. Since 2010, he has contributed to teacher and school principal training as a moderator. His current work emphasizes practical and theoretical aspects of inclusive schooling, with a strong commitment to equity and educational support.
