Björn Blom is a Professor of Social Work and Director of the Umeå Center for Evaluation Research (UCER) at Umeå University's Department of Social Work. He holds a PhD in Social Work (1998) and has led UCER since 2021. His roles include academic leadership, research direction, and teaching at advanced and postgraduate levels.
Educational Background: BSc in Social Work, PhD in Social Work (1998), Docent qualification. Academic positions include affiliation with R&D Västernorrland and leadership in multiple research projects since 2005.
Research Interests focus on welfare organizations' practices (cooperation, client work), professional knowledge use, evaluation methodologies, elderly care digitalization, and theoretical developments like CAIMeR and Domain theories. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration with government, municipalities, and private organizations.
Key Research Areas include: comparative studies on social work stigma (Sweden/US), organizational impacts on client outcomes, evaluation system development, and aging policy. Recent trends show increasing focus on digitalization in elderly care and critical realist evaluation frameworks.
