Binod Shrestha is a Professor of Studio Art and the inaugural Director of the Foundations Program at the University of North Texas (UNT), specifically within the College of Visual Arts and Design (CVAD). He leads the studio-based Foundations program, ensuring its service to all majors in the college and fostering collaborations with Texas and global Foundations communities. Previously, he served as an Associate Professor and Foundations Coordinator at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, where he focused on art foundations pedagogy.

Research Interests: Shrestha’s artistic practice explores the interplay of myths, memory, and metaphor (the 3Ms) on the human body, examining socio-political and metaphysical implications at the micro-level. His work bridges conceptual art with critical theory, probing how politics and power structures shape individual and collective identity.
Awards & Leadership: In 2023, he received the FATE Master Educator Award and was elected FATE Vice President of Development. He also joined the NCAA Board of Directors, reflecting his prominence in arts administration.
Advising & Advocacy: As Director of the Foundations Program, he champions interdisciplinary education and equitable access to foundational art training. His leadership extends to nurturing emerging artists and redefining pedagogical frameworks in visual arts education.
