Bin Ramke is a Professor and Phipps Chair at the University of Denver's College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of English & Literary Arts. He holds a PhD in Contemporary British and American Literature from Ohio University (1975). A renowned poet and literary figure, Ramke has authored fourteen poetry collections, including Matter (2004) and Airs, Waters, Places (2001). He has served as editor of the Denver Quarterly for 17 years and curated a 21-year poetry series at the University of Georgia Press, publishing 83 books. His work has earned the Yale Younger Poets Award (first book, 1978), a prestigious honor in American poetry. Ramke also teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
His research interests center on contemporary poetry, literary arts, and creative writing, with themes exploring existential inquiry, memory, and interdisciplinary approaches. His career spans over five decades, marked by contributions to both creation and curation in literary arts.
Ramke’s academic and editorial roles include extensive experience in literary publishing and mentorship through his editorial work. His publications reflect a commitment to innovative poetic forms and thematic depth.
