معرفی
Bin Liu serves as Professor and William H. Honstead Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering within Kansas State University's College of Engineering, where he joined as an assistant professor in 2013.
His academic credentials include:
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines (2008)
- B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Dalian University of Technology (2003)
Professor Liu's research pioneers computational catalysis through first-principles methods like density functional theory, establishing integrated molecular modeling systems for mechanistic analysis, catalyst screening, and kinetic modeling. His work eliminates traditional trial-and-error approaches in catalyst development, accelerating innovation in catalytic processes.
His expertise spans atomistic modeling, carbon nanomaterials, boron compound semiconductors, sustainable energy systems, intelligent process engineering, protein nanomaterials, and bio-functional interfaces.
Major recognitions include:
- K-State Faculty Mentoring Fellowship (2014)
- Academic Excellence Award (2015)
- K-State Faculty Development Award (2016)
- College of Engineering Outstanding Tenure-track Assistant Professor Award (2016)
Prior to K-State, Liu conducted postdoctoral research at Colorado School of Mines (surface kinetics modeling, 2009), Argonne National Laboratory (biomass conversion modeling, 2010-2012), and Carnegie Mellon University (solid alloy thermodynamics, 2013).
