معرفی
Dr. Bianca Plouffe is a Senior Lecturer at Queen's University Belfast's Wellcome Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine. Her research investigates GPCR pharmacology with focus on spatial signaling properties and structural determinants of allostery. She aims to develop novel therapeutic approaches for diseases including diabetes and neurological disorders through understanding GPCR signaling mechanisms.
Current projects examine endosomal Gq signaling, neuroprotective functions of prostaglandin receptors, and molecular mechanisms in diabetic retinopathy. Her lab employs interdisciplinary approaches including advanced imaging, proteomics, and single-cell transcriptomics.
Research Awards:
- BBSRC New Investigator Award (2022)
- Wellcome Trust Seed Award (2019)
- Diabetes Canada Postdoctoral Fellowship (2016)
Dr. Plouffe leads an active research group mentoring PhD students and postdoctoral fellows. She teaches neuroscience and research methods across undergraduate and medical programs, while serving on institutional committees including the BBSRC Pool of Experts.
