Dr. Karis Little is a Senior Research Fellow at Queen's University Belfast's Wellcome Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine. Her research program investigates diabetic complications with dual focus on retinopathy and cognitive decline. She employs neurovascular models to elucidate shared mechanisms between ocular and cerebral pathologies in diabetes.
Her recent publications in journals like Diabetologia and Trends in Endocrinology & Metabolism examine macrophage heterogeneity in retinal disease, enzymatic pathways in diabetic retinopathy, and cortical dysfunction in diabetes-associated cognitive impairment. She is an active member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and contributes to peer review for multiple scientific journals.
