Bethany G. Lanese is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at Kent State University's College of Public Health. She also holds a secondary role as Assistant Professor in the Fashion School, where she focuses on Fashion Technology and interdisciplinary art/design. Her academic career spans public health, healthcare administration, and fashion innovation. Prior to academia, she worked in healthcare management as Co-Management Administrator and Director of Special Projects at a nonprofit hospital. She teaches courses in public health, public administration, healthcare management, public policy, organizational behavior, and American government.
Her creative research in fashion technology includes interactive textiles, digital fabrication, and interdisciplinary collaborations under the studio //benitez_vogl. Notable achievements include NEA grants, the ISWC 2014 Design Award, and over $200,000 in arts grants. She has presented globally at venues like Barcelona Fashion Week and Smart Fabrics conferences, and co-chaired ISWC 2015 Design Exhibition. Her work intersects public health governance and technological innovation in fashion systems.
Professional service includes roles in university teaching excellence committees, grantsmanship in arts funding, and leadership in wearable computing symposia.
