Patricia Wu Wu

Dr Patricia Wu Wu is a Lecturer in Fashion Design at the University of Edinburgh's School of Design. Her interdisciplinary practice bridges fashion, computational design, and data science to address planetary-scale challenges through wearable art and speculative design methodologies.

Patricia's research investigates textiles as mediums for data physicalization and performative approaches to technology integration. She explores computational fashion and human-AI collaboration as tools to reimagine the body's relationship with environmental systems, often manifesting in 3D-printed wearables, generative animations, and installations.

Her recent publications focus on anthropocene narratives and data-driven design, with keywords spanning environmental visualization, digital fabrication, and speculative fashion. She has contributed to international conferences and peer-reviewed journals like ELISAVA Temes de Disseny.

Patricia actively supervises PhD students and organizes undergraduate courses including 'Fashion Design 2A: The Architects of the Body' (DESI08070) and 'Fashion Design 2B: Designing Diversity for the Fashion Industries' (DESI08069). She has previously taught in the MA/MSc Design Informatics program and curated the 'Data as a Material' exhibition.

Notable projects include 'AI Fashion Co-creation' (2021) with University of Arts London and 'Experiential AI Pilot Study' (2019) leading to The New Real hub. She has exhibited at Milan Design Week, Berlin Fashion Film Festival, and BBC Broadcasting House as part of the BRAID Programme.
