Markus Vogl is a Professor of Art at the Myers School of Art, University of Akron, specializing in multimedia art and emerging technologies. He leads the M-Lab Makerspace and co-founded //benitez_vogl studio, focusing on intersections of art, design, and technology. Vogl holds an MFA in New Media from Donau Universität Krems/transart institute (2007) and a BS in Multimedia and Web Design from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale (2000).
His research explores 3D printing, digital fabrication, and interactive installations. Notable projects include {skin}-D.E.E.P. (biomimetic skin patterns), S.A.R.A. (synesthetic AR application), and versus 0.02 [gridiron] (sports data visualization). Vogl has exhibited globally, including at EMP Seattle, ELISAVA Barcelona, and Otago Museum New Zealand. Awards include a Fulbright Fellowship and NSF/NEA grants.
He has presented at conferences like Shapeshifting (Auckland) and CAA, and collaborated with institutions like Kent State University's Dance Department. Workshops led include 3D printing techniques and Arduino-based physical computing.
