Beth Pratt-Sitaula is a Researcher at Central Washington University (CWU), serving as the Principal Investigator (PI) on three EarthScope Education grants. She leads professional development workshops for educators through initiatives like Teachers on the Leading Edge (TOTLE), the Cascadia EarthScope Earthquake and Tsunami Education Program (GETSI), and the Alaska Native Geoscience Learning Experience (ANGLE). Additionally, she is the Project Manager for the GEodesy Tools for Societal Issues (GETSI), which develops teaching materials focused on geodetic data applied to climate change, natural hazards, and water resources. She also directs the summer field program Nepal: Geoscience in the Himalaya.
Her expertise spans geoscience education, geomorphology, and geohazards learning, with a focus on K-12 and undergraduate education. She holds a Ph.D. in Geosciences from the University of California Santa Barbara (2005).
Beth’s work emphasizes bridging geoscience research with societal needs, particularly through quantitative skills training and field-based learning. Her grants and projects reflect a commitment to educator professional development and applying geodetic tools to critical environmental challenges.
