Beth B. Russell is an Associate Professor in the Social Work Department at SUNY Brockport since 2016. Previously, she held a tenured Associate Professor position at Nazareth College and the Greater Rochester Collaborative Master of Social Work Program. She is a licensed clinical social worker in New York State with clinical and supervisory experience in Rochester-area agencies. Dr. Russell teaches practice, research, policy courses, and electives focusing on sexual health, creativity in social work, evidence-based practice, and addictions.
Her research emphasizes women's low sexual desire, cultural humility in social work education, and integrating sexual health into professional practice. She holds an MSW from the University of Michigan and a PhD in Education and Counseling from the University of Rochester. She has additional certifications in sex therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and interpersonal therapy.
Dr. Russell has contributed to peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, presenting her work nationally and internationally.
