Fatima Banister is a Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor at Nazareth University's Department of Social Work. She joined the faculty full-time in 2024 and has taught as an adjunct since 2017. Her roles include teaching courses on Cultural Humility and Trauma, clinical therapy practice, and integrating social work with healthcare administration.
Education: B.S., University at Buffalo (SUNY); M.S.W., Greater Rochester Collaborative Program (SUNY Brockport & Nazareth College, 2013); M.P.A., SUNY Brockport; current doctoral student at Delaware State University.
Research interests focus on Womanist psychology, decolonized therapeutic interventions, Black liberation psychology, maternal child health, and the intersection of social work with healthcare policy. She operates a private practice supporting people of color in New York and New Jersey, emphasizing EMDR therapy and trauma-informed care.
Professional activities include work in veterans' services, school social work, and healthcare administration. She is also an entrepreneur merging mental health practice with business strategies.
