Bernie E. Mesa

Bernie E. Mesa is a Lecturer in the Department of Physics at Sam Houston State University (SHSU). With a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, he brings extensive industry experience from roles at RCA Princeton Research Laboratories and Siemens Electronics in Munich, Germany, where he designed communications and video equipment. He later founded Micro Star Technologies in Huntsville, TX, developing laboratory instruments for electron and atomic force microscopy, and holds two patents for a rotary engine and a diamond tip surgical instrument. At SHSU, he contributes to physics department laboratories, designs equipment for measuring fundamental constants, and engages in personal projects related to historical scientific instruments.

Current personal projects include building a Ptolemaic clock astrolabe and a sidereal clock based on Earth’s rotation.
