Andrey Mironov

Andrey Mironov is a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's Laboratory for Optical Physics and Engineering within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He holds a PhD from UIUC (2016) and has contributed significantly to laser physics, nano-optics, and VUV light sources. His research focuses on novel laser technologies, microplasma devices, and photochemical fabrication, including pioneering work on 172 nm VUV lamps and alkali lasers with over 100 publications and 11 patents.

Recent work includes high-current diamond semiconductor switches (2025), 172 nm photolithography (2024), and advancements in atomic clock optical sources (2022). Collaborations include Prof. J. G. Eden and teams at Eden Park Illumination. His inventions enable compact atomic clocks, nanofabrication tools, and energy-efficient photonics systems.
