Dr. Bernie Yurke is a Research Professor with joint appointments in the Micron School of Materials Science and Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering at Boise State University, where he has worked since 2008.
His educational background includes:
- BS and MA in Physics from University of Texas at Austin
- Ph.D. in Experimental Low Temperature Physics from Cornell University
His pioneering research spans:
- DNA-based nanodevices and nanotechnology
- Quantum optics and squeezed light generation
- Biophysics and microelectromechanical systems
- Low-temperature physics phenomena
He received significant honors including:
- Max Born Award from Optical Society of America (2001)
- Fellowships in three major scientific societies
- Distinguished Member recognition at Bell Labs
Before joining Boise State, Dr. Yurke had a 25-year research career at Bell Laboratories where he made breakthrough contributions in multiple physics disciplines.
