Dr. Bernice Garnett is the Adam and Abigail Burack Green and Gold Associate Professor in the Department of Education at the University of Vermont's College of Education and Social Services (CESS), with a secondary appointment in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She contributes to UVM's public health and food systems programs and founded the PhD in Social Emotional and Behavioral Health and Inclusive Education (SHIE).

Her research bridges public health and education, focusing on community schools, restorative practices, school health equity, and mixed methods CBPR. Current projects include evaluating Vermont's Act 67 Community Schools Act, school-based restorative practices, weight-inclusive nutrition curriculum, and School-Based Health Centers.
Recent publications highlight her work in genderqueer student inclusion, rural community schools, and pandemic-era virtual restorative practices. She leads federally funded initiatives including a Leahy Institute seed grant and a Congressionally Funded Community Project.
