Bernard Mahon is a Professor at Maynooth University's Faculty of Science & Engineering, affiliated with the Biology Department and Hamilton Institute. His research focuses on immunology, adult stem cell therapy, vaccine development, and pediatric infectious diseases. He has held leadership roles as Faculty Dean and Vice President (Research) at Maynooth University.

- Mesenchymal stem cell immunomodulation and therapeutic applications
- Early-life immune responses and vaccine design
- Pathogenesis of Bordetella pertussis and poliovirus infections
- Immunological tolerance mechanisms
Key Achievements:
- Completed clinical trials for a novel whooping cough vaccine with EU partners
- Overcame technical barriers in adult stem cell therapy
