Dr Bernard Gan is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management at Griffith University's Griffith Business School. He serves as the International Lead for the Department of Business Strategy and Innovation (BSI) and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). His research focuses on higher education, employment relations, Asian business strategy, Hospitality and Tourism in Asia, and international relations with a regional emphasis on Asia-Pacific.
Dr Gan holds a PhD in Organisation and Management from the University of New South Wales, complemented by a Masters and Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from the University of Western Australia, and a Diploma in Employment Relations from Singapore's Ong Teng Cheong Labour Leadership Institute.
His research interests span interdisciplinary areas including labor market policy, cross-border business strategies, and service industry dynamics. Notable work includes studies on China's Employment Contract Law, Singapore's tripartite labor system, and pandemic impacts on hospitality sectors. He has guest-lectured at institutions across Australia, China, Taiwan, Thailand, and Singapore since 2008.
Dr Gan supervises doctoral and masters students in international business topics such as trade-war impacts on employment, innovation strategies in electric vehicle firms, and SME internationalization. He contributes to academic networks including the Griffith Asia Institute and the Singapore National Employers' Federation.
