معرفی
Berit Bungum serves as Professor of Science Didactics at the School Laboratory for Mathematics, Science and Technology within the Department of Physics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Her position bridges university research and K-12 education through the School Laboratory, which functions as a critical link between NTNU's science subjects and Norwegian schools. She actively collaborates with schools and science teachers on development projects while conducting research that integrates educational theory with practical classroom implementation.
Her research focuses on physics and science didactics, with particular expertise in quantum physics education, computational thinking integration, and climate science communication. Through projects like ReleKvant (quantum physics/relativity teaching resources) and KreTek (creative technology in secondary education), she develops innovative approaches to STEM instruction. Her work consistently examines how students develop conceptual understanding through technology-enhanced learning environments, with recent emphasis on creativity assessment and identity development in physics students.
The publication portfolio reveals strong thematic continuity in physics education research, particularly regarding quantum mechanics instruction and technology integration. Her 15 most recent articles demonstrate increasing focus on computational thinking (2022-2024), student identity development (2024 LUSCID project), and interdisciplinary approaches combining climate science with traditional physics concepts. Collaborative international research appears consistently, especially with University of Oslo and Nordic partners.
Bungum actively supervises master's and PhD students in physics didactics while teaching RFEL3100 (research methods in mathematics and science didactics) for associate professor education. Her School Laboratory role involves significant teacher competence development through projects like Climate Didakt (targeted climate communication) and KreTek (creative technology co-creation). Current grants include Research Council of Norway funding for KreTek (2019-2022) and Climate Didakt (2022-2023), plus international collaboration on the longitudinal LUSCID study.
She leads the School Laboratory team that develops practical resources connecting university research with classroom practice. The laboratory facilitates teacher-student interactions through researcher-school collaborations, particularly in quantum physics education (ReleKvant) and climate science communication. Current initiatives focus on integrating programming with creativity in STEM projects while developing assessment models for creative outcomes in science education.
