Benjamin Greenfield

Benjamin Greenfield is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in the Department of Medical Sciences, College of Allied Health Professions. He holds a Master's in Perfusion Science (UNMC, 2003) and a BS in Biology from Nebraska Wesleyan University (2001). His expertise spans perfusion science, oncology research, and healthcare management. He has performed over 7,000 surgeries as a clinical perfusionist and holds leadership roles in recruitment and policy advocacy, including serving on the Nebraska Board of Medicine and Surgery.

Research interests include biocompatibility of extracorporeal circuits and gap junction communication in breast cancer. He has authored studies in perfusion and oncology and is a sought-after speaker on medical technology and multidisciplinary cardiac surgery approaches. Awards include UNMC’s highest alumni honor (2013) and a teaching excellence award (2017).

Ben also serves as a government liaison for Nebraska perfusion policy and has contributed to state licensure laws. His professional roles include Director of Recruitment for Epic Cardiovascular and advocacy in healthcare policy.
