Benjamin Chang is a Professor and Director of the Games and Simulation Arts and Sciences (GSAS) program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His work bridges electronic art, experimental gaming, and immersive virtual environments, focusing on the intersection of technology and human experience. He leads initiatives such as GameFest, an annual student game development showcase, and has collaborations with institutions like the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago.
Research Interests: Chang explores evocative technological experiences through installations like 'Becoming' (a computer-driven video piece) and a Holocaust memorial VR environment. His projects utilize hacked video games, antique telegraphs, and modified surveillance cameras to highlight human qualities within systems.
Exhibitions: His work has been featured at Art Basel Miami, SIGGRAPH, FILE Festival (São Paulo), and Wired NextFest. He also designed interactive exhibits for the Field Museum of Natural History.
