معرفی
Benjamin Barratt is a Professor in Environmental Exposures & Public Health at Imperial College London's School of Public Health, part of the Faculty of Medicine. He leads the Convergence School of Sustainability and co-chairs the School of Public Health's Research Committee. His work focuses on innovative environmental monitoring technologies to assess air quality and health impacts, particularly for vulnerable populations. He collaborates internationally across clinical, engineering, and social sciences, advising bodies like the WHO and US Health Effects Institute.
Research interests include air pollution's effects on health, exposure measurement, and community engagement. Projects span global initiatives like the Breathe London program, the APHH-Beijing study, and the PRECISE-DYAD protocol in sub-Saharan Africa. He emphasizes translating evidence into policy and public health interventions.
Key collaborations involve the Environmental Research Group and Exposure Science Team, with affiliations to MRC Centre for Environment and Health and NIHR HPRU in Environmental Exposures and Health. Current studies explore indoor-outdoor pollution linkages (WellHome), COPD exacerbations via air quality sensors, and microplastic emissions.
His work bridges environmental science and public health, addressing urban and global challenges through interdisciplinary methods. Recent studies highlight acute health impacts of pollutants, mitigation strategies for professional drivers, and equity-focused environmental policies.
