Beng Huat See is an Honorary Professor at Durham University's School of Education and an Affiliate of the Durham University Evidence Centre for Education. She joined Durham in 2013 after research positions at the Universities of York and Birmingham. Her 16-year background as a secondary school teacher in Singapore and subsequent teaching experience in Wales underpin her research expertise.
Her research focuses on:
- Teacher recruitment/retention and wellbeing
- Strategies to overcome educational disadvantage
- Critical thinking pedagogy
- Parental involvement frameworks
- STEM participation equity
- Education policy evaluation
Recent publications (2020-2025) predominantly analyze teacher workforce challenges, educational equity interventions, and COVID-19 impacts. Methodological approaches include large-scale RCTs, international comparative studies, and systematic reviews of disadvantaged student support.
