Benedict Koh

Benedict Koh is a Full-time Professor of Finance (Education) and Associate Dean of Pre-Experience Postgraduate Programmes at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University (SMU). He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania (1992), and a B.B.A. (Honours) from the National University of Singapore (1983). His research focuses on pension systems, corporate finance, financial literacy, retirement preparedness, and wealth management. He has authored multiple books, including Managing Your Personal Finance (2020) and Personal Financial Planning (2017).

Professor Koh is a recipient of numerous awards, including the SMU Distinguished Educator Award (2024), Dean’s Teaching Honour Roll (multiple years), and the Public Administration Silver Medal (2018). His work emphasizes practical applications of financial knowledge, particularly in Singapore’s social security systems and aging population challenges.

His research explores topics such as reverse mortgages, portfolio complexity among older adults, and the effectiveness of financial education programs. He has contributed to policy discussions on longevity risk management and CPF investment strategies. Beyond academia, he serves as a thought leader in wealth management and financial innovation.
