Ben Nichols

Dr. Ben Nichols is a Research Fellow in Bioinformatics working in the Department of Human Nutrition at the University of Glasgow, providing specialized bioinformatics and statistical analysis support for research projects within the Human Nutrition department and the University of Glasgow's BINGO group through broader collaborations with other research institutions.

He completed his undergraduate studies in Mathematics and Statistics at Newcastle University before earning his PhD in Bioinformatics at the University of Glasgow.

Dr. Nichols' research program centers on the human microbiome, particularly as it relates to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in pediatric populations. His work bridges bioinformatics, nutrition science, and gastroenterology with a strong emphasis on pediatric populations, specializing in analyzing complex microbiome datasets to identify microbial signatures that correlate with disease states and treatment responses.
