Ben McFarlane is a Professor of English Law at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of St John's College, Oxford. He also holds the role of Senior Fellow in the Melbourne Law Masters program at the University of Melbourne. His research focuses on the intersection of property law and obligations law, particularly in commercial contexts, and explores equity's role in modern legal frameworks.
His notable publications include The Law of Proprietary Estoppel (2020) and The Structure of Property Law (2009). He has also contributed to leading legal texts such as Hayton, McFarlane and Mitchell on Equity and Trusts (15th edn, 2022) and Land Law: Text, Cases, and Materials (5th edn, 2021).
