Robert Chambers

Robert Chambers serves as Professor and Department Chair at Thompson Rivers University's Faculty of Law. He holds a B.Ed., LL.B. from Alberta and a D.Phil. from Oxford, where he studied under Professor Peter Birks.

Chambers practiced as a barrister and solicitor in Alberta before embarking on his academic career, which has included positions at the University of Melbourne (as senior lecturer), University of Alberta, King's College London, and University College London. His current role as Department Chair reflects his leadership within the law faculty.

Professor Chambers' research focuses on property law, restitution, trusts, and unjust enrichment. His scholarly work explores both theoretical foundations and practical applications, with particular attention to how these legal areas intersect across common law jurisdictions. His publications demonstrate deep engagement with the philosophical underpinnings of trust law and restitutionary principles.

His recent scholarly output shows continued focus on property law fundamentals, particularly through multiple editions of his Australian property law textbook. His trust law scholarship spans historical analysis, theoretical foundations, and contemporary commercial applications, with increasing attention to comparative perspectives across jurisdictions.
