Ben Jones is an Assistant Professor of Ethics and Public Policy and Research Associate/Assistant Director at the Rock Ethics Institute at Pennsylvania State University. He holds a Ph.D. from Yale University and has been a Beinecke Scholar. His research focuses on policing ethics, criminal justice reform, and substance use disorder policy, with notable publications on overdose prevention and health equity. Jones co-edited The Ethics of Policing (2021) and authored Apocalypse without God (2022). He leads the Policing, Policy, and Philosophy Initiative (3PI) and previously directed the campaign to repeal Connecticut's death penalty.
His research appears in journals like Journal of Politics and Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, and outlets like The Washington Post. Awards include recognition from the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics and the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Center.
