Professor Trevor Jones is a leading criminologist at Cardiff University's School of Social Sciences, specializing in policing, criminal justice policy, and policy transfer. He holds a Professorship in Criminology and serves as a postgraduate supervisor. His research focuses on police governance, private security, workplace bullying, and comparative criminal justice systems. He has led major research projects, including a £679,000 ESRC-funded study on workplace bullying and an ESRC proposal on UK crime control policy convergence.
Professor Jones has authored/co-authored six books, including Policy Transfer and Criminal Justice (2007) and Trouble at Work (2012), and over 50 peer-reviewed articles. His teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate levels, covering criminology, policing, and penal theory. He has supervised 12 PhD students to completion and actively collaborates with international researchers.
His current research explores transnational policy flows, devolution impacts on UK policing (especially Wales), and crime control across jurisdictions. He is affiliated with the Cardiff Centre for Crime, Law and Justice and serves on editorial boards for key criminology journals.
