Ben Higgins

Dr Ben Higgins is a Career Development Fellow in English Literature at the University of Oxford's Faculty of English Language & Literature, affiliated with Lady Margaret Hall. His research focuses on early modern literary and material cultures, particularly Shakespeare, book history, and editorial practices. His monograph Shakespeare’s Syndicate (2022) redefines the publication of Shakespeare's First Folio and was shortlisted for prestigious awards. He collaborates on Early Modern Bookspace (Cambridge UP, forthcoming), exploring reading sites and interpretive strategies.

Teaching interests include early modern literature, bibliography, and textual criticism. His work spans Shakespeare studies, the history of libraries, and manuscript circulation networks. Awards include recognition from the Shakespeare Association of America and Shakespeare's Globe. He holds a position as Fixed-term and College Staff at Oxford.
