Ben Gardiner is a barrister specialising in intellectual property law, with a practice encompassing patents, copyright, trade marks, designs, and consumer law disputes. He appears before the Federal Court of Australia and IP Australia, representing clients across pharmaceuticals, medical, mining, and technology sectors. He concurrently teaches the LAWS5206 Copyright Law course at the University of Queensland Law School.
Education: Ben holds degrees in pharmacy, business, and law, with postgraduate studies in law (BCL) at the University of Oxford (2005). Before joining the Bar, he was an associate to the Honourable Michael Black AC (then Chief Justice of the Federal Court) and worked as a practising pharmacist.
Research interests focus on intellectual property litigation dynamics, regulatory challenges in medical and technology industries, and the intersection of consumer law with IP rights. His teaching and practice reflect expertise in navigating complex legal frameworks for innovation and intellectual assets.
