David G. Henry is a Professor of Patent and Trademark Law and Litigation at Baylor Law School since 1994 and periodically teaches in the Entrepreneurship Program at Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business. He is also a registered patent attorney in the U.S. and Canada, a first-chair federal litigator, and external general counsel for privately held companies. His expertise spans patent litigation, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and breach of contract cases. He serves as a certified mediator for complex commercial disputes and advises boards and management teams globally. Henry is a frequent speaker on intellectual property topics and has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America and Texas Super Lawyers. His unique aviation skills, highlighted in Law360, enable rapid client and courtroom access across the U.S.
Education: JD from Baylor Law School (1985), BA in Biology from Baylor University (1982). He is admitted to numerous federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court and the Federal Circuit.
Research interests focus on intellectual property law, patent litigation strategies, and technology law. His publications address patent litigation trends, trademark protection, and legal innovations in IP practice. He has contributed to IPWatchdog and authored client advisories on patent and trademark compliance. Henry’s work reflects a blend of legal acumen and practical problem-solving, emphasizing courtroom-ready transactional advising.
Honors include IAM Patent 1000 (2025), repeated Best Lawyers listings, and Texas Super Lawyers (2018). He is active in the Federal Bar Association, Dallas Bar Association, and Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association. His commitment to education includes service as co-director of Baylor’s USPTO IP Clinic Program and roles in the Military Child Education Coalition.
