Belinda Tato is an Associate Professor in Practice of Landscape Architecture at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design (GSD). She co-founded ecosistema urbano, a Madrid-based interdisciplinary collective specializing in urban social design, which integrates architecture, urbanism, engineering, and sociology to foster civic self-organization and community interaction. Her work spans projects in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, emphasizing sustainable and participatory urban interventions.
Ecosistema urbano's team includes members educated across European universities, and they have taught globally at institutions like Harvard, Yale, and UCLA. Their projects have garnered over 30 awards, including the Holcim Foundation Award (2005), AR Award for Emerging Architecture (2007), and Holcim Silver Award (2009).
At GSD, Tato teaches Landscape Architecture IV and Making Participation Relevant to Design (Spring 2025). Her research focuses on designing environments that enhance social dynamics and environmental stewardship.
