Belinda Steffan is a Chancellor's Fellow at the University of Edinburgh Business School within the Organisation Studies department. She holds a PhD in Management from the University of Edinburgh (2020), an MSc in Strategic Management Accounting from London Metropolitan University (2002), and advanced psychology qualifications from Monash and Edinburgh. Her research focuses on the intersection of gendered ageing, ageism, and workplace retention, particularly examining women's health issues like menopause within organizational contexts.
Research Highlights:
- Investigating digital health technologies for healthy ageing at work
- Exploring intersectionality in mid-to-later life workplace experiences (socio-economic status, race, neurodiversity)
- Leading the Supporting Healthy Ageing - Reflection and Communication (SHA-RC) project (2024-2025) funded by the Economic and Social Research Council
Key Publications (2024-2025): Focus on menopause as an identity threat, flexible work arrangements, and resilience strategies in workplace contexts. Her work also addresses neurodivergence and intersectional experiences during menopause transitions.
Collaborative Networks: Active in the Edinburgh Mental Health Network, Work & Economy, and Identities & Inequalities research themes. Co-founder of the SHAW Project (2021-2024) which examined hidden health factors affecting workers over 50.
Professional Engagement: Regular participant in major conferences including Gender, Work and Organization, ISBNPA XChange, and specialized Menopause in the Workplace events where she served as Chair.
