Bei Hu is an Assistant Professor in Design at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, specializing in Human-Computer Interaction. She holds a Master's in Interactive Telecommunications from NYU and degrees from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA). Her research focuses on bridging design, technology, and storytelling to create immersive experiences across digital platforms, wearables, and virtual reality.
- Teaches in BA Design, BFA Communication Design, and MDes programs
- Previously taught at Kansas City Art Institute and NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program
Research interests include user-centered design, cross-cultural interfaces, and socially engaged art-tech projects. Notable works include Our Sky Project (13th National Exhibition of Fine Arts, China) and Bark app (winner of multiple design awards). Exhibited internationally in museums like Florida State University’s Museum of Fine Arts and galleries in Beijing/Shanghai.
Awards include the INDIGO Design Gold Award (2024), Red Burns Scholarship (NYU), and China’s National Scholarship. Recognized for innovative projects in UX design, generative typography, and interactive installations.
