Becky Taylor is a Professor of Modern History at the University of East Anglia, affiliated with the School of History and Art History and the Migration Research Network. Her research focuses on minorities, migration, the state, and welfare, with particular emphasis on refugees, Gypsies/Roma/Travellers, and marginalized populations. She has authored influential books such as Refugees in Twentieth-Century Britain (2021) and Another Darkness, Another Dawn (2014).

Her current ESRC-funded project, Realities Checked, examines Gypsies' and Travellers' experiences of crime and justice since the 1960s using mixed methods. Her work addresses UN Sustainable Development Goals related to reducing inequalities and promoting inclusive societies.
Recent research includes studies on welfare policies, decolonization impacts, and the historical treatment of marginalized groups. She collaborates with policymakers, NGOs, and community groups, and actively communicates history through media, radio, and television.
