Becky Squires is an Honorary Lecturer at the School of Social Sciences at Lancaster University, where she contributes to academic discourse while serving professionally as a Principal Social Worker with Adults for Westmorland and Furness Council. Her research focuses on the intersection of social work, dementia studies, and the social model of disability.
Her work emphasizes Rural Social Work, supporting people living with dementia, and examining mental capacity within personal relationships. She explores how age-related challenges and rural community dynamics shape social care practices.
In 2024, she published a chapter on rural social work with older adults in the UK, reflecting her commitment to improving care frameworks in underserved regions. Her academic pursuits are aligned with the Faculty of Health and Medicine, where she is completing a PhD in Dementia Studies.
