Bastien Chabe-Ferret is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Middlesex University's Faculty of Business and Law, Department of Accounting, Finance & Economics. He serves as PostGraduate Research lead for Accounting, Economics and Finance, and SeNSS thematic lead for Advanced Methodologies in Social and Economic Research.
His research examines intersections between economics, demography and public health, particularly how social norms interact with public policies affecting fertility, migration, work, education and health behaviors. Current projects include an ESRC-funded study on Transitions to Parenthood in UK SMEs.
Recent publications demonstrate methodological innovation in demographic analysis, with consistent themes in fertility decision-making, migration patterns, and poverty reduction strategies across diverse cultural contexts. His work employs advanced econometric techniques to analyze large-scale survey data.
Dr. Chabe-Ferret currently supervises doctoral researcher John Conrad Magpayo. His teaching includes Data Science for Policy Evaluation and Trade and the Multinational Enterprise, where students learn quasi-experimental techniques using R and contemporary trade theories.
