Ericka Rascon Ramirez

Dr Ericka Rascon Ramirez is an Associate Professor in Development Economics at Middlesex University, London. She holds primary affiliation with the Department of Accounting, Finance & Economics within the Faculty of Business and Law. Prior to academia, she worked at the World Bank Group and Mexico's Ministry of Social Development.

Her research focuses on behavioral, family, and development economics, employing advanced statistical methods to address policy-relevant questions in child development (learning, health, education), adolescent behavior (sexual behavior, early marriage), and experimental interventions. She has conducted randomized control trials and lab experiments in Nigeria, Malawi, Peru, Tunisia, Turkey, Spain, and the US.

Teaching responsibilities include modules such as Advanced Econometrics, Development Economics, and Experimental Economics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels across Middlesex University and the University of Essex.

Her work has been published in journals like the American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Economic Psychology, and International Journal of Forecasting. She currently serves as an Associate Editor at the Latin American Economic Review and on the editorial board of the Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Economics.

Supervision includes ongoing PhD students John Conrad Magpayo and Edwin Ikhuoria. Her research has been supported through grants from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and other institutional partnerships.
