His research focuses on the language and literary form of Roman philosophical texts from the first century BC, particularly Lucretius, with secondary work on Seneca's Natural Questions and Avienius' poetry. He combines close textual analysis with broader philosophical and linguistic inquiry.
Recent publications explore Epicurean thought, Latin rhetorical strategies, and interdisciplinary approaches to classical texts. His upcoming commentary on Lucretius' De Rerum Natura continues this trajectory.
Dr. Taylor supervises graduate students working on Latin authors and teaches undergraduate courses in Latin language and literature, including Homer's Iliad in Greek. He also lectures on Roman poets like Virgil and Horace.
