Barbara Klemczak is a Professor of Technical Sciences at the Department of Structural Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Silesian University of Technology. Awarded her professorship in 2018, she holds doctorate (2000) and post-doctorate (2009) degrees from the same institution in Civil Engineering, Surveying and Transportation.
Her educational background includes graduation from the Faculty of Civil Engineering specializing in buildings and engineering structures (1991). She teaches Concrete Structures, Structural Concrete, and Advanced Structural Design while maintaining active research in concrete behavior under thermal and moisture stresses.
Professor Klemczak specializes in numerical analysis of concrete structures and cementitious composites, with significant contributions to thermal energy storage research. Her work drives international collaboration through Horizon 2020's NRG-STORAGE project (2020-2024, as team leader) and Horizon Europe's CSTO2NE project. She maintains strong industry-academia links via the C-MADE Research Centre in Portugal and RILEM Technical Committee 299.
Major recognitions include:
- Ministerial Award for doctoral thesis (2001)
- Stefan Bryła Award for modeling massive structures (2011)
- Four Rector's RGJ grants
- Multiple pro-quality program awards
She has supervised 3 doctoral theses (all defended with distinction), reviewed nearly 100 journal articles for Elsevier/Springer, and served on international thesis committees at Luleå University of Technology. Leadership roles include Deputy Chairman of the Civil Engineering Discipline Council (2019-2020) and Editor-in-Chief of Architecture Civil Engineering Environment (2014-2021). Her international experience includes research internships in Denmark and Portugal.
