Baowei Fei is a Professor of Radiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and a Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Texas at Dallas, holding the Cecil H. and Ida Green Chair in Systems Biology Science. He directs the Center for Imaging and Surgical Innovation (CISI) and the Quantitative Bioimaging Laboratory. Previously, he served as an Associate Professor at Emory University and held roles in postdoctoral training at Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Fei earned his Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. His research focuses on quantitative imaging, image-guided interventions, and artificial intelligence in biomedical imaging. He has led over 20 NIH and Department of Defense grants, including a groundbreaking clinical trial for PET/ultrasound fusion targeted prostate biopsy.
His scientific accolades include the Distinguished Investigator Award from the Academy for Radiology & Biomedical Imaging Research (2013), the Emory 1% Award, and the Young Investigator Award from the Society of Nuclear Medicine. He is a Fellow of SPIE and AIMBE, and actively serves on editorial boards for journals like Medical Physics and Journal of Biomedical Optics.
Dr. Fei mentors students in biomedical engineering and radiology, emphasizing precision medicine and innovation in imaging technologies. His lab aims to advance imaging science for disease detection and treatment through interdisciplinary research and education.
