Baowei Fei is a Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) and a Full Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He directs the Center for Imaging and Surgical Innovation (CISI) and the Quantitative Bioimaging Laboratory (QBIL), and holds the Cecil H. and Ida Green Chair in Systems Biology Science. Previously, he was an Associate Professor at Emory University and a faculty member in the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at Emory and Georgia Tech. His research focuses on biomedical imaging, AI, quantitative imaging, image-guided interventions, and translational imaging across cancer, neurodegenerative, and cardiovascular diseases.
Dr. Fei earned his PhD and MS in Bioengineering from Case Western Reserve University. He has led over 20 NIH-funded grants, including a first-in-human clinical trial on PET/ultrasound fusion targeted biopsy for prostate cancer. He is a Fellow of AIMBE and SPIE, and has served as Chair of multiple NIH study sections and SPIE conference committees. His work has resulted in over 200 publications and numerous awards, including the 2020 Editor’s Choice Award for his glioblastoma imaging research.
Dr. Fei mentors students and postdocs, many of whom have won national awards. His vision is to advance precision medicine through imaging and AI innovations, with a focus on early disease detection and patient care improvement.
